Vulnerable children such as orphan children and especially those infected with HIV and affected
due to HIV parents, face a lot of challenges for their basic survival. HIV disease alone has
rendered millions of children as orphans in our country in the last two decades.

While talking
about orphaned children it is not easy to conjure up the plight of HIV positive children who are
either orphans or have lost either of their parents to the deadly HIV disease. Generally
considered as the most vulnerable Orphans, most of these children are helpless suffering under
the combined onslaught of being HIV positive and being orphans. In addition to this there is
always the question of discrimination due to the stigma attached to the disease adding to their
emotional distress. Thankfully, WSO has been working for these children through a very
dedicated institution’s HIV/AIDS care support
center namely “Asha Jyothi”. One such NGO which
has been engaged in the service of people who are
affected with HIV/AIDS and also for the children
orphaned by the disease irrespective of caste,
creed or religion is Asha Jyothi. Effectively
following and observing their dedication and
service motive, WSO has funded them nearly about
Rs.10 lakhs, for smooth functioning and support for the project. The WSO members regularly

“In charity to all mankind, bearing no malice or ill will to any human being, and even compassionate those who hold in bondage their fellow men, not knowing what they do.”

n some parts of Zimbabwe, for example, some nurses give painkillers to sick patients as a “treat-all drug,” says Charles Landlord, a Zimbabwean living in Botswana. Some of his family members have been treated in hospitals in Zimbabwe.
